Welcome to Swim Dog
Cornwall's First 32-ft Outdoor Swimming Pool for Dogs

Purpose built for dogs but fun for all!

We're in the pool for every session, so you don't even have to get wet

The Location

Formerly Dairyland, we are located in the centre of Cornwall, with easy access from the main A30 at Summercourt heading towards Newquay.

Upon Arrival

Swim dog is accessed directly off the car park. We have a system of gates in place to contain and separate dogs from different sessions.

Look for the Swim dog sign above our entrance gate, through the gate we have a pre-session fenced off paddock area with a picnic bench for your exclusive use until your welcomed into the main paddock for your session.

The main paddock is fully fenced with a separate exit route. We also have a small changing hut, reception, a sheltered viewing area and a few picnic benches. Clean bowls and fresh water is provided for each session.

The Pool

Purpose built for dogs, our pool and paddock offers a controlled environment for your dog to swim.

We are in the water for every session offering encouragement to suit the level of your dog’s ability.

You’re welcome to get in and get involved but you don’t have to.

You do have to be at poolside for the whole session, to encourage your dog, inform our staff and ensure our safety.

The pool is set up with options for all sizes and abilities of dogs to enter and exit the water.

Ramps, steps and surfaces are designed specifically to enable your dog to build confidence from the first doggy paddle to full on dock diving.

We have a range of toys, rewards and buoyancy aids for use throughout the session but feel free to bring your own dog’s favourites.

Humans in the Pool

We welcome owners to join in the fun with their dogs in the pool or simply to help encourage the more nervous.

Entering the pool is at YOUR OWN RISK.

Children are allowed in the pool when accompanied by a supervising adult (1 adult to 1 child).

The pool water is 3ft deep so anyone wishing to enter the pool must be tall enough to have at least their shoulders out of the water.

Please refer to the terms and conditions of use for more info.

Your Session

A typical 30 minute session includes admin, induction, changing time and pool time.

A 1 minute swim is equivalent to a 1 mile walk for most dogs, so each session is tailored for around 20 minutes swim time.

All dogs are different, so we work with you to tailor each session to build confidence in and around the water.

Dog’s will be encouraged but not forced to enter the water.

They will have lots of fun and hopefully build up their confidence to swim if they don’t already swim.

We also have lots of toys and buoyancy aids to help entice them.

We’re confident they will love it and you will love watching and encouraging them even if you’re not participating.

What to bring

The only thing you must bring is your dog, lead and a towel! Please ensure they have not been fed within the 2 hrs prior to your session, and that they have been toilet exercised before entering the pool.

If you are planning to swim, a wet suit is ideal or swimwear plus t-shirt and leggings as dogs may scratch.

The pool is only 3ft deep so it’s not total emersion.

We do have a small changing area for use in your session time but it’s far easier to come ready to swim as your dog may get anxious or over excited waiting for you to change.

After your swim we have a small area to get changed and give your dog’s a quick shower down (no shampoos allowed) and a towel dry (please bring your own towels).

The Facilities

We have created a system of gates, enclosures and paddocks to allow your dog the freedom to explore and gain confidence off lead.

We have a shower for your dog and basic changing facilities for any human companions.

We also have picnic benches in the paddock and a sheltered viewing area should the weather turn inclement.
